Extending Interface Roles to Account for Quality of Service Aspects in the DAiSI

SSE-HRR+16

Dynamic adaptive systems are systems that changetheir behavior according to the needs of the user at run time.Since it is not feasible to develop these systems from scratch everytime, a component model enabling dynamic adaptive systemsis called for. Moreover, an infrastructure is required that iscapable of wiring dynamic adaptive systems from a set ofcomponents in order to provide a dynamic and adaptive behaviorto the user. To ensure a wanted, emergent behavior of theoverall system, the components need to be wired according tothe rules an application architecture defines. In this paper, wepresent the Dynamic Adaptive System Infrastructure (DAiSI). Itprovides a component model and configuration mechanism fordynamic adaptive systems. To address the issue of applicationarchitecture conform system configuration, we introduce interfaceroles that allow the consideration of component behavior duringthe composition of an application. Moreover, we extend theinterface roles and application specifications by a quality ofservice concept. This enables a component to not only requirea syntactical and semantical correct wiring, but also to demandthe – from its viewpoint – best service.
