Process Model Engineering Lifecycle: Holistic Concept Proposal and Systematic Literature Review

Organizations establish process models fordifferent purposes and goals. However, they have in commonissues concerning quality assurance and successful projectmanagement. Process models can be applied on different levels inprocess engineering, depending on whether processes are to beexecuted, defined or improved. Various individual methods andtools have been developed to help process engineers andmembers who are engineering and performing processes. Thesemethods however do not support continuous integration into aprocess engineering lifecycle that consists of creating, defining, executing and improving processes. Therefore, we propose aholistic view of artifacts and activities in the process engineeringlifecycle in an effort to create a consensus on what constitutes aprocess engineering lifecycle and take a look at recent researchresults covering the issues mentioned. We have identifiedapproaches on process descriptions, on meta-models and onsupport in executing processes in the last years.
